Armagh Observatory is privately owned and supported by the Astrophysical Research Consortium, whose mission is to operate the observatory to further astronomical research by the scientists and students of its member institutions, including Hidden Cove University and the Natural History Museum in Hidden Cove. The Observatory hosts several of the most technologically advanced facilities in the world for studying astronomical objects with unprecedented resolution and clarity. The 100-inch Hooker telescope remains in active scientific service, and the solar towers are daily collecting data representing the world's longest continuous record of the sun.

The historic Armagh Observatory is located north of Hidden Cove on the summit of Mount Ouschat. At an elevation of 5715 feet, the observatory is visible from much of Hidden Cove. Open to visitors every day from 10am to 4pm, April 1 through November 30, the center my be closed after heavy snowfalls, when icy conditions are present, or during times of high fire danger. Please take this into consideration before planning a visit and call ahead to make reservations.

Walking tours are led by docents provided by the AO Association at 1pm on Saturdays during the period of Daylight Savings Time. Tours begin at the pavilion above the large parking lot. Public viewing through the 60-inch telescope is available to individuals and groups. Fee and scheduling information is available by calling the Observatory or at various locations around Hidden Cove, including HCU and the Natural History Museum. The Hooker telescope can be seen from the visitor's gallery inside the dome and there is a small astronomical museum on the observatory grounds.
