Founded in 1922, South & Associates is a diversified law firm with offices in all up and down the Eastern Board of the United States, including Hidden Cove and Washington D.C. The firm's clients range from large national and multinational corporations to closely held companies, businesses and individuals.

  Founded in 1922, South & Associates is a diversified law firm with offices up and down the Eastern Board of the United States, including in Hidden Cove and Washington, D.C.

  South & Associates has over 200 attorneys in its 7 offices. The Firm has been established in Hidden Cove for 50 years and in Washingon, D.C. for over 80 years.

  Client Service

  As a full-service firm, South & Associates understands that today's consumer of legal services wants more than just outstanding legal results. Our clients also expect outstanding service - prompt responses, efficient and cost-effective legal services delivered with courtesy. Each individual attorney strives to meet these expectations and we promote this philosophy collectively as a firm. We conduct client reviews periodically to solicit feedback from our client contacts.

  Partnering

  It is our goal to be a proactive "partner" in our clients' business, not just a reactive legal advisor. We are deeply involved with the various industries we serve, writing and lobbying for key legislation, and actively participating in trade associations.

  Proactive Representation

  It is our role to function as a counselor who not only helps clients in times of crisis, but also plays a significant role in a planning and preventive capacity to help them avoid potential legal crises. We try to fulfill this role by providing newsletters, updates and seminars to keep them apprised of changes in the law that could affect their businesses, their industries and their legal well-being.

  Community Outreach: At South & Associates, our attorneys and staff members are involved in many different community projects individually. Those projects range from serving meals at some of our local shelters to being members on Boards of Directors for many non-profit and charitable organizations. We also participate in several community projects together as a firm, including:

  Partners in Education Program

  South & Associates has participated in the Hidden Cove School's Partners in Education (formerly known as Adopt-A-School) since August of 1991. The firm viewed the program as one in which everyone could participate and make a personal contribution, and is proud of its 11-year partnership with the Hidden Cove Middle School, located near downtown Hidden Cove. Committees have been established at the middle school and South & Associates for the following areas: Financial Assistance, Enrichment, Incentives, Donations, and Special Projects. There have been many positive results from South & Assoicates’ involvement, yielding a greater appreciation in making a difference in someone's life and assisting a school at a time when educational issues and funding are at a crisis level.

  Legal Assistance to the Homeless PATH (Partnership Assistance to the Homeless)

  Since 1992, members of the Firm have assisted PATH and its participants with a wide range of services. Our attorneys coordinate projects with the PATH Executive Director. Several of our attorneys also have contributed by serving on the Board of Directors of PATH. PATH is a nonprofit organization that serves homeless women and children in domestic violence situations by providing food, shelter, temporary and permanent housing and employment training.

  To date, the involvement has been very rewarding and has yielded very positive results for PATH women. Individual attorneys have been involved in credit, family law and housing matters and have presented educational programs to PATH's employment training class.

  Information Technology Strategy

  South & Associates is committed to using technology as a method of enhancing the legal services delivered to our clients. Our goal is to provide highly reliable, cost effective solutions that facilitate easy access yet meet stringent security standards.

  Commitment

  As a sign of this commitment, South & Associates has made recent investments in the following areas:

  * Standardized on Microsoft as the network and desktop operating system of choice. All servers and desktop computers have a standard configuration which reduces support costs and increases reliability.

  * Deployment of a converged network infrastructure based on frame relay circuits. All South & Associates offices are connected via a wide area network (WAN) that supports voice, data and video.

  * Focused on mobility. Our attorneys and staff have the ability to connect anytime or anywhere via a number of ways including laptop computers, RIM Blackberry devices and virtual private networks. Attorneys can travel between offices and work as if they are in their primary office location.

  * Secure connectivity between clients. Based on business need, we have worked with clients to deploy highly secure, encrypted connections between our offices.

  * Deployment of video conferencing throughout the firm. Video conferencing will reduce some of the travel currently required for "face to face" meetings with attorneys in other offices or clients.

  * Deployment of portal technology to improve information access within the firm and for our clients.
