1. have a sense of humor - both in-character and out.
2. communication is the key to good roleplay and the secret to our longevity. Make yourself available by making sure you check the e-mail address associated with your character often. Along those lines - talk to other players about plotlines, getting your character involved and in general about the game itself. The more you talk to other players and set things up, the more enjoyment you’ll get out of the game
3. personal feelings - even about your characters - need to be left outside the game. If you have a real issue, bring it to the STs.
4. all players have lives outside the game - be patient - this is our hobby, not our occupation.
5. this is the internet - communication can be difficult through type and not everyone is as well versed at expressing themselves as others - before you jump to conclusions - make sure you open the lines of communication and clarify.
6. don’t ASS-U-ME - period - always ask
7. don’t try to tell the STs or other players how to play the game, run their characters or otherwise tell anyone what they should be doing -if you take issue with something, take your concerns to the STs.
8. give a character their fifteen minutes. If they are obviously posting that they are charismatic, intimidating, good at something, etc, play up to it.
9. consult the STs before creating NPCs - even when you think it would be appropriate. This is easy enough - you know in advance your plans usually - just toss the STs an e-mail before you plunge ahead - to make sure that another player is not in control of the business or already has npcs in play to cover it.
10. realize that if you put your character in a potentially dangerous position, you will have to live with the consequences, up to and including the possible death of the character.
11. watch your blood point expenditure, willpower, and all other stats. If your stats say your good at something, be good at it, if they say you suck at something, suck at it. If you aren't sure, ask.
12. realize that sometimes even your disciplines fail. There are very few that are “guaranteed” - so every once in awhile let them fail.
13. realize there are 60+ other characters in this group, and they will be watching your plots for ways to involve themselves and their characters. Nothing is written in stone here.
14. be flexible, open to change and open to re-working a plot or situation.
The Storytellers would like to remind everyone that they are players as well and they are not your parents, your babysitters, your personal referees or cheering section. They will arbitrate any situation as they see fit and by consulting one another only. Although they may ask for opinions from others, they are always the final authority when it comes to situations that have been brought to their attention, or that they saw a need for their intervention into.
Thus it is in the best interest of yourselves and your characters if you try to resolve any problems by all means of communication before bringing it to the STs for a decision. Although they would be happy to receive copies of any correspondence being sent back and forth so that they have a complete view of the situation - they will keep their voices and opinions out of it - until asked for them.
Arguing, bribery and even flattery will not likely get you far with either one of them Although at the high price of gas, they wouldn't be adverse to free will donation - with no guarantee of results in favor of your character.
