What every visitor (mortal or otherwise) or new resident should know:
Hidden Cove is home to a wealth of both astounding opportunties and truly powerful people. Hidden Cove is home to an international airport, a recording studio, an internationally known and reknowned fashion designer, some of the hottest clubs in the country, one of the most posh and sought after hotels on the entire eastern seaboard and one of America’s richest and oldest families - rivaling the Kennedys both in political clout and wealth. What follows is (very) brief descriptions of places and people - considered to be "public" knowledge to supernatural and mortal alike. Coming soon is a "Kindred Guide" to the Cove.
Jean Paul Revelle - “Revelle’s” - an internationally known and celebrated clothing designer has decided for the time being to call Hidden Cove his home - shirking most of the “fashion capitols” of the world for his own little slice of heaven. If you have delusions of granduer and the money to back it up - you might be able to afford something from his shop. To get the man himself to design something for your own personal use - you will have to be both well connected and extremely wealthy. Wealth alone won’t get you an audience with the enigmatic Revelle.
Sonic Records - ranked among one of the best state of the art studios in the country. Artists have been known to come from all over the world both for the quality of the staff and facilities at Sonic and the privacy offered in the Cove.
The Main Vein - a fairly new rock club in town - with a house band and amatuer night once a week where people can try out their talents. Word has spread far and wide enough that the amatuer night also gets the attention of a few music moguels. Because of the popularity of the nightclub - and a limited capacity - arrive early or take a chance on not getting in at all.
Mink - a brand spanking new club that promises to be *the* place to be in Hidden Cove. It’s got an exclusive clientele though - so don’t plan on just showing up and expecting to be ushered in.
Malcom’s Lair - for those that are looking for a more “low key” and “local” atmosphere then Malcom’s is the place to go. It isn’t a “hotspot” but the company is fairly friendly and there’s usually a pool table open.
The Rusty Nail - in “Lowtown” - if you’re looking for a fight or a knife in the ribs, then The Rusty Nail is your ideal hangout. Located in what locals have dubbed “Lowtown” - take the trek to this particular bar at your own risk - even if you manage to make it down there you may not survive the bar itself - if the dirt and grime on the glasses doesn’t get you, the regulars might.
The Crown Royal Hotel - if you are accustomed to “living in the lap of luxury” then the CR should be your home away from home. Five stars doesn’t even begin to describe the luxury and service you can expect from this glorious hotel.
Kassie’s Place - if your looking for something homey, less luxury than the CR but much friendlier than your local Motel 6 - and with more than reasonable rates. The best part - Malcom’s Lair is a part of the same building and The Main Vein is just around the corner.
The city also has your typical smattering of chain hotels as well, for those that are interested in that sort of thing.
L’etriente de Vie - a recently renovated performing arts theatre, with a fantastic cast and some of the best productions in the country. Once again, another of the hot spots of the rich and well connected, acquiring tickets may be no easy task.
Ramsey Art Gallery - in the process of renovation and under new ownership - but holds some promise for future showings.
Argosy Casino - if gambling is your form of entertainment - then feel free to step into the Casino and they’ll be more than happy to help you part with that hard earned cash.
The Java Hut - “Starbucks” has nothing on the Hut, they have any and all variety of
“joes” on hand - as well as personal and attentive service and some of the greatest food in the Cove.
There’s also a college in the city, two hospitals (one county & one regional medical center & a teaching hospital (sponsored by the Catholic Church), a library, Antiquties shop, a major diamond marketer, and one of the regions most celebrated and successful mental hospitals. Other companies include a brokerage firm - that will confidently and quietly handle anything you might like to sell or purchase, a private investigation firm, a newspaper, a television station, a great many companies and corporations and your typical smattering of restaurants and eateries - from the Yves Fish House near the beach to the fine dining experience of Greene’s, near the lake. Hidden Cove is also home to a museum, a winery, a celebrated law firm, and your typical smattering of bowling alleys, movie theaters and malls.
The city is also home to a large shipping industry and some of the best beaches on the coast. Twin Falls forest and national park also has camping and hiking paths, but it’s best to be careful - venturing from the public parts of the park to the protected could be hazardous to your health as its been rumored that there are several wolf packs that wander the forests. The Armagh Observatory is also located within the Twin Falls State Park.
__The People:__
The Jamesons are *the* family in the Cove - they’re rich, wealthy, well connected, politically motivated and socially at the top of the food chain. Recently the patriarch of the family died - it was believed at first to be under “questionable” circumstances - then decided to be merely accidental. Elizabeth Jameson is the last member of the family in the Cove currently - an only child, Elizabeth lost her mother at a very young age and was raised by her father and a few servants. The Jamesons were the establishers of the “Fingerpaints” charity - and Elizabeth has taken over the running of it since her father’s death. Elizabeth has recently become engaged to Michael Cambias - an up and comer and celebrated actor in the theatre community.
The Pflaum Family - running a close second to the Jameson’s as far as connections and society name in the Cove are the Pflaums. Robert Pflaum is the owner of Pflaum Construction and is both socially and politically well connected and a great contributor to many organizations in the Cove. Julie Pflaum, the Pflaum’s only daughter recently moved back to town with her husband and two children (twins). Her husband is Bryce Quinn - who recently took a position as the newest ADA. Julie is a little older than Elizabeth Jameson, but the two have always had a somewhat close connection - Julie being much like an older sister to Elizabeth.
Current Mayor - Robert Thompson - formerly the Deputy Mayor - promoted to Mayor when the old mayor shot a police detective on the steps of the courthouse. The police detective was Steven Borden.
Detective Steve Borden - police detective that was accused in the murder of the former mayor’s son. Shot on the way to a pre-trial hearing by the former mayor, later died from the gunshot in the hospital. His former partner Detective Luke Sollinger is still active in the Cove.
